A Showcase of Talent: 2025 Painting Competition Results
Last Thursday marked the deadline for this year’s highly anticipated Crossfire Gaming Club Painting Competition, and once again, our community did not disappoint. The committee has been absolutely blown away by the incredible standard of work submitted across all categories.
From seasoned veterans to enthusiastic newcomers, painters of all levels stepped up to showcase their skills. The entries covered a vast range of styles and subjects, from grimdark 40k warlords drenched in atmospheric gloom to vibrant fantasy heroes bursting with colour and life. It’s this kind of creativity and passion that truly embodies what Crossfire Gaming Club is all about!
An Overwhelming Display of Talent
The volume and quality of entries were higher than ever this year, making the judging process both exciting and incredibly challenging. Each miniature told its own story, with careful attention to detail, inventive basing, and eye-catching colour schemes. After much deliberation and discussion, we are proud to announce the winners and runners-up of the 2025 competition.
Slayer Chainsword Award (Best Overall Entry)
Winner: Flatus Miasmus by Lewis Mackenzie

A revoltingly beautiful entry that perfectly captured the spirit of the grimdark, full of character, atmosphere, and oozing (sometimes literally) with detail.
Single Miniature
Winner: Night Lords Character by Richard Beckett

Runner-up: Clawlord on Gnawbeast by Dimitrios

From sinister stealth to savage ferocity, this category was packed with standout pieces.
Squad
Winner: Agraddon Lancers by Peter McCourt

Runner-up: Death Guard Kill Team by John King

These entries impressed us with their consistency, narrative flair, and table presence.
Vehicle/Monster
Winner: Glottkin by John King

Runner-up: Death Guard Caestus Ram by Sean McCarter

Larger models demand a unique approach, and both winners brought their creations to life with incredible skill.
Aspiring Champion (Rising Talent Award)
Winner: Black Templar Marine by Scott Millar

Runner-up: Shrine Anchorite Trench Crusade by Jax

This category celebrates rising stars in the hobby, and both entries showed great potential and impressive execution.
