Playing Shatterpoint at Crossfire
The club has recently invested in a starter set for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, the new game from Atomic Mass Games.
There had been some talk at the club that people were interested in trying it out and having recently received lottery funding, it allowed us to support this. Allowing us to supply a copy of the game without people needing to own the core set.
Currently not that many people have a team for this game at the club (it did only release in June), although interest has been building. Feel free to use our Discord Server to arrange games or find out who else is keen on it.
What is Star Wars: Shatterpoint?
Star Wars: Shatterpoint is a brand new miniatures skirmish game based in the Star Wars universe, where players can alter the fate of the galaxy, from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. Players build and command a Strike Team composed of iconic Star Wars characters from throughout the Star Wars timeline and pit them against each other in exciting battles.
How Does the Game Play?
In Shatterpoint you create a Strike Team that is truly unique with beautifully sculpted and dynamic miniatures of identifiable Star Wars characters that are ideal for dedicated hobbyists and new painters alike. The fun and flexible squad-building experience invites players to create custom strike teams optimised to complete the various mission objectives. Players can choose thematic squads straight from the Star Wars galaxy, like Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze, Lord Maul and his loyalist super commandos, or mix and match their favourite characters to form the custom squads they want to play. Players use their characters’ special abilities and diverse combat skills to control the flow of battle as they race against each other to complete dynamically evolving mission objectives.
How to Get Started?
Having just been released in June 2023 we are brand new to the game ourselves at Crossfire and are still in the process of learning how to play it. However, we think this will be a very popular and fun game to add to our growing roster, and there has never been a better time to jump in. We will be doing introduction games soon, just speak to one of the committee. We even have our own core set so you can try the game first to see if its something you will like before committing to create your own unique teams.
Atomic Mass Games have released the Core Rules for free on their website.
