Build a Warband and Enter the Ruins of Thrackdown

As a few of you already know, I’ve been working away in the background for the last year on something a little different, my own post-apocalyptic skirmish wargame called Thrackdown.

Thrackdown is designed to be a fast-paced skirmish game set in a broken world where gangs, cults, machines, and strange new lifeforms struggle for control of what remains. The focus is on small warbands, cinematic moments, and brutal close-quarter fights over scrap, territory, and survival.

To tie in with the Crossfire Kitbashing Competition I’ll be running a couple Build Your Own Warband hobby evenings at the club on Thursday the 12th and Thursday the 19th of March.

Build Something Unique

On these nights, I’ll be bringing along a selection of bits, parts, and random components that people can use to kitbash their own custom warband members. Along with any other bits they want to bring.

Thrackdown is miniature agnostic, meaning you’re completely free to use whatever models you like. This is the perfect excuse to get creative with:

• Spare bits from old kits
• Weird conversions
• Half-finished models hiding in your hobby pile
• Completely new ideas you’ve been wanting to try

The goal is simple: build something cool and characterful.

Even better, I’ll also have some very early Thrackdown miniature prints available to use. These are some of the first official models produced for the game, so if you want to get your hands on them early, this will be your chance.

The Factions of Thrackdown

The game currently features six main factions, each representing a very different way of surviving in the ruins of the world:

Zealots
Fanatical believers fighting for a prophetic vision of the future.

Paramilitary Survivalists
Disciplined soldiers trying to rebuild order in a collapsing world.

Mutants
Horrifying biological aberrations whose bodies are constantly changing.

Robots
Free-thinking machines left behind after the fall of civilisation.

Vampires
Elegant predators who rule from the shadows and feed on the weak.

Scavengers
Scrap-collecting survivors who survive through cunning and adaptability.

Each faction plays differently on the tabletop, but because the game is miniature agnostic, you’re free to interpret them however you like with your models.

Create Your Own Faction

In the future, Thrackdown will also include rules for creating completely custom factions, allowing players to invent their own warbands from scratch.

That could mean things like:

• Sci-fi dwarves hunting for forgotten supply caches under the earth
• Cyborg gladiators that have been rebuilt with crude cybernetics and combat grafts
• A wandering psychic coven
• Rogue bio-engineered hunters
• Or something even stranger

Those rules are still in development, but the hobby nights are a great chance to start experimenting with ideas.

Help Playtest the Game

These evenings will also help bring in a few more playtesters for Thrackdown as the rules continue to develop.

The more warbands we have running around the ruins of Nova Eden, the better the game will become.

And at the end of it all, you’ll walk away with:

• A custom warband
• A cool entry for the kitbashing competition
• And something you can use in Thrackdown or any other skirmish game
