A Successful First Event at the Bawrus Heresy

Bawrus Heresy event in full swing

Our First Event, Full of Touchdowns & Trechary!

Crossfire Gaming Club marked a major milestone with our first weekend tournament, The Bawrus Heresy.

The event brought together competitors from two of the clubs most popular games, Blood Bowl and The Horus Heresy for a day of touchdowns and treachery for a charitable cause!

Designed as a dual game system event, The Bawrus Heresy featured a total of 48 players, with 24 competing in each tournament. Held on March 14th at Banknock Community Hall, the event was filled with incredible-looking Heresy armies battling across thematic tables with great scenery, alongside fantastic Blood Bowl teams duking it out on the gridiron in the same hall.

Blood Bowl Tournament

The Blood Bowl tournament delivered all the drama and unpredictability the game is known for.
After a chaotic 3 games throughout the day, the final results were as follows:

1st Place Winner

Scott took first place by a single point with his classic human team the Reikland Hammers going 2/1/0 on the day!

2nd place

Just pipped to the top spot was Connor and his Black Orc team led by the mighty H’thark!

Wooden Spoon

Lewis and his Jurassic Lizardmen just edged out the competition to take the coveted Wooden Spoon.

Most Touchdowns

Simo managed to score a whopping 7 touchdowns over the 3 games with his Grombrindal inspired Human team.

Most Casualties

Jairo managed to inflict the most brutality on his opponents with yet another Human team, this time led by the clawed Skorg!

Best Painted

Mark took the trophy for best painted on the day – a well deserved award for his amazing looking animal themed Orc team, The Jungle Is Massive!

Horus Heresy Tournament

Meanwhile, the Horus Heresy tournament delivered a rich, narrative-driven experience on a truly epic scale. Players led their forces through sprawling sci-fi battlefields, as Traitors and Loyalists clashed in brutal, hard-fought engagements throughout the day.

In the end, it was the Loyalists who emerged victorious!
The day also concluded with a series of individual awards for The Horus Heresy:

Panoply of Victory (Best Army)

Craig B with his Iron Warriors

Skulls for the Skull Throne

Cam took this honour for most challenges won.

Objectively Correct – Loyalist

Grant had the highest loyalist score on the day!

Objectively Correct – Traitor

David took the trophy for highest traitor score!

Warrior of Renown

Luke and his Alpha Legion was voted most fun to play against!

Wargaming Supporting Charities

Beyond the tabletop action, the event also supported meaningful causes.

The Bawrus Heresy raised an impressive total of £375, spilt between two important charities: Men Matter Scotland and Crohn’s & Colitis UK. The funds were generated through half the cost of each ticket sold for the event, along with some very generous donations from competitors on the day.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event and helped make our first event such a success. From the players and organisers to those who contributed their time, effort, and enthusiasm on the day, your support truly made all the difference and helped create a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

We’re incredibly grateful for the community that came together to help make this such a great day, and we hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did. Be sure to keep an eye out for more events coming later this year from Crossfire and who knows, we may even see the return of the Bawrus Heresy in 2027!
