Club Nights

Our Venue – The Cumbernauld Village Hall

We are at the Kilsyth & Old Parish Church throughout the Summer holidays

Where to Find Us

Cumbernauld Village Hall
The Wynd, Cumbernauld,
Glasgow
G67 2ST

Entrance to Building

The Village Hall has multiple entrances to the building, however the care taker generally only opens the Black door at the bottom of the stairwell that leads to the hall’s car park. As these doors offer the easiest access to the upper and lower halls.

village hall car park entrance

This door will normally be sitting ajar/open. If you are early (before 6pm) and the door isn’t open, please don’t try to force it, as it has been damaged with this in the past. The Caretaker will unlock and open it as soon as he gets in (usually sometime about 5:45 or occasionally earlier).

Disabled Access

The building does have a door to the main street that provides disabled access. Which should be open once the caretaker arrives, as it’s the door he will unlock the building from. However, do let us know beforehand if you are coming and need to use this door, it’ll allow us to ensure that it’s accessible.

There is also a lift at the back of the building for easy access between floors.

Timings

6pm – 10pm on Mondays

6pm – 10pm on Thursdays

Age Restrictions

We are open to everyone, although anyone under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Cost to Attend

£5 per person per night & first night’s gaming is free

We have a self-service, wireless payment kiosk, sat at the front of the hall (near the entrance at the top of the stairs) where attendees can pay for entry, drinks, snacks etc. This is operated on a trust basis, just select what you want, pay via the machine and gab your stuff. We also accept cash (and give change), just grab a committee member and we’ll sort it out.

Getting Here

By Car

If coming from the M80 from the Glasgow direction, exit at Junction 6. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A8011, go under the motorway, past the traffic lights and take the 1st slip road on the left. This will take you under the A8011, you’ll pass a slip road coming onto the same road from the other side of the A8011, after which turn left onto The Wynd. The first right again will enter the car park at the Village Hall.

If coming from the Stirling/Falkirk direction along the M80, exit at Junction 6, heading towards Cumbernauld, then take the first slip road on the A8011, which will take you under the bridge. Turn left into the Wynd and you will see the Village Hall.

Parking

The Village Hall has it’s own free car park with plenty of spaces, there is also free street parking nearby and a free car park a short walk away at The Wynd/Smithyends.

We have also agreed with the Co-Op Funeral Care that we can use their car park. It’s the first left after turning into the Wynd, directly across from the Village Hall car park

Arranging & Playing Games

Booking Tables

For Thursdays, all of our table bookings are handled via our Discord Server, once you have an opponent simply tag the @Committee in the #thurs-table-request channel to reserve a table. You can also use the #game-arrangement channel to look for an opponent. Once seen, we will add you to the table plan, reserving your table.

Mondays are still a bit quiet, so as long as you have an opponent, you should be fine, no need to book tables until it starts getting busier.

Table Plan

We have a digital table plan on Discord, with numbered tables so people know where they should be. On the night, we will have table numbers on the tables. Making it easier to find where you are supposed to be.

Our table layouts can change every now and then, as sometimes we put away/up tables or try a new layout. As such there is no set-in stone layout/plan but we do try and keep things roughly similar.

Gaming Hall

The club always books the larger upstairs hall for both Monday and Thursday club nights. Most Thursdays, we also have access to the downstairs hall as well. The exception, is when the Community Council have it booked (normally every 2nd Thursday of the month).

Gaming Mats & Terrain

Upon arriving at the club, you might find that your table doesn’t have a mat or box of terrain yet. The Committee will try and help out initially, especially for newer attendees by getting this sorted for you. However, if we have been unable to do so, all of the terrain is stored in the cupboard at the end of the hall.

We have lots of themed terrain for all different game systems and normally 1 storage box will contain enough terrain for a game. We will have started emptying the cupboard of the more regularly used boxes for people to claim. if you haven’t been given a box for your table either help yourself from those we have set out or have a look at what else is in the cupboard and grab a box of terrain that suits.

Our Gaming mats are stored outside of the cupboard, next to the piano. Again, just help yourself if your table doesn’t have a mat yet. We do have a tagging system in place to make things easier.

  • Green Tags: 6’x4′ Mats, either Grass, Plains etc
  • Yellow Tags: 6’x4′ Mats, Sand & Sci-fi
  • Blue Tags: 44×90″ Mats – GW’s new recommended 40k size
  • Purple Tags: Smaller Mats, usually 4×4 or 3×3 in size
  • Orange Tags: Game system Specific Mats

Please ensure that you put the mat back in the correct bag at the end of the night.

Holiday & Term Time Locations

North Lanarkshire Council operates the Village Hall as a term-time location. This means that the building is shut during school & public holidays and we need to move to another location during these times.
