Introducing Tabletop Together
Tabletop Together is a new initiative running at Crossfire Gaming Club throughout the first half of the year, designed to make it easier for people to get involved in tabletop gaming.
Whether you’re completely new to the hobby, curious about trying a different system, or keen to help introduce others to games you love, this programme is all about lowering barriers and building confidence around the table.
At its heart, Tabletop Together is about sharing games, sharing space, and sharing the experience. It’s a way for us to actively support new players and new systems, while continuing to grow a friendly, welcoming local gaming community.

What Will Tabletop Together Do?
Tabletop Together will deliver a series of open, community-focused intro gaming sessions at Crossfire, as part of regular club nights. These sessions are designed to be relaxed, inclusive, and beginner-friendly, with experienced players on hand to guide people through their first games or help them explore something new.
The focus isn’t on competition or list optimisation. It’s on learning the basics, rolling some dice, asking questions, and having a good time in a supportive environment.
Dedicated Intro Games – Every Thursday
As part of the programme, every Thursday night at Crossfire will include dedicated table space for intro games.
To make it as easy as possible for people to take part:
- Entry is free for everyone involved in an intro game
- Each participant will receive a free drink and a snack
- This applies to new players, players trying a new system, and the volunteers running the games
These tables will be clearly set aside for intro play, so new players know exactly where to go and can jump straight in without feeling like they’re getting in the way of regular games.
Who Is It For?
Tabletop Together is intentionally broad and flexible. It’s for:
- People who have never played a tabletop game before
- Players who want to try a new system before committing
- Lapsed hobbyists looking to ease their way back in
- Club members who enjoy teaching games and welcoming new faces
You don’t need to own an army, a rulebook, or even dice to take part. We’ll have beginner-friendly materials available to support sessions and keep things moving smoothly

Want to Help Run an Intro Game?
A big part of Tabletop Together is community-led play, and we’re actively looking for members who’d like to help run intro games.
If you enjoy explaining rules, showing off a system you love, or just helping new players feel comfortable at the table, we’d love to hear from you. The club will work with volunteers to:
To make it as easy as possible for people to take part:
- Schedule intro games in advance
- Provide table space and basic materials
- Cover entry and refreshments for everyone involved
You don’t need to be an expert or run anything complicated. Small, simple games that introduce the core mechanics are perfect.
Funding & Support
Tabletop Together is supported by funding from the Growth Pot Fund, a local funding opportunity facilitated by the partnership of:
The Growth Pot Fund supports Engagement and Participation activities across North Lanarkshire.
We’re extremely grateful for this support, which allows us to remove some of the usual barriers that can stop people from giving tabletop gaming a go. By covering entry, providing refreshments, investing in beginner-friendly materials, and supporting the volunteers who make intro games happen, this funding helps us make the hobby more accessible, welcoming, and low-pressure for everyone.
It also lets us actively reach out beyond our usual circles and invite new people into the club, helping to grow a stronger, more inclusive tabletop community here in North Lanarkshire.

Get Involved
If you’re interested in taking part in an intro game, trying something new, or helping to run a session, just speak to a committee member on the night or get in touch via our contact page, via email or on Facebook or Instagram.
Tabletop Together is about playing more games, with more people, in a relaxed and friendly setting. So come along, pull up a chair, roll some dice, and join us!
