Around a month ago, in order to celebrate the success of the Gitbashing event for the Space Gits campaign, we launched a kitbashing competition to try and encourage our members to get creative and come up with some weird and wonderful new models for other game systems that are played at the club.
We expected some amazing entries due to the wealth of hobby talent that we have at the club and were not disappointed with the entries!
Now it’s time to announce the winners! The committee discussed all entries and eventually came to a decision. It was very tough to choose but we got there in the end…
Vehicle Category
The committee were well impressed by the quality of entries into this category. It takes a lot of planning and vision to come up with a fully kitbashed vehicle, so hats off to the entrants!
Vehicle Winner
The winner of the vehicle category, taking home a custom trophy and an Element Games voucher is… Danny! His insanely Orky dakkabike creation blew us away (literally!) We really liked the use of multiple kits and the creative vision that went into this model. It really encapsulates what kitbashing is all about and Danny now has a great model to use as part of his Ork army!

Vehicle Runner Up
The runner up of the vehicle category, bagging an Element Games voucher is… Darren! We were very impressed by Darren’s ability to totally transform an already built & painted Imperial Knight into an intimidating Chaos Knight. Great work!

Notable Mentions
Shout out to Thomas and Peter who submitted excellent entries too and really upped the quality of this category in the competition.

Infantry Category
Since all of the entries in this category ended up being character models, we decided to roll the initial plan of two separate categories for this into one.
Again, there were some amazing creations submitted for this category, making our judgement extremely tricky! The vision, execution and especially the posing were all brilliant.
Infantry Winner
The winner of the infantry category, securing a custom trophy and Element Games voucher for themselves is… Adam! The posing of the model, creating a very dynamic fighting pose is very cool indeed and ultimately won it. The combination of parts from different kits was also great. Well done!

Infantry Runner Up
The close runner up of the infantry category, winning an Element Games voucher is… Conail! This was such a close run battle between winner and runner up. Conail’s model looks very dramatic, complex and shows a real artistic vision and a fantastic paint job! Superb work!

Notable Mentions
Shout outs go to Peter, Calum, Scoot and Oskar for their awesome entries! This was such a difficult choice to make as they were all really cool models in the end. It really does prove that we have some amazing hobbyists at the club.

Thanks for Giving it a Bash Folks!
It’s during events like this that we as a committee can truly appreciate how amazing our club members are and the wealth of talent that we have amongst our ranks. It’s what makes Crossfire such a fantastic place to be!
The Kitbashing competition will return next year and will be planned into the club calendar, with more notice, to allow more of our members the chance to take part and plan their entries ahead of time.
