Crossfire Blood Bowl League – S1 Concludes!

CBBL Logo

The curtain has fallen on the thrilling first season of our Blood Bowl league and 18 of our initial list of 24 coaches have managed their teams all the way through the regular season and into the playoffs. Victors have been crowned and trophies delivered on what feels like a pretty successful inaugural season of Nuffle’s great game at Crossfire Gaming Club.

A Season of Surprises and Standout Stories

From the opening kick-off, the league delivered drama and spectacle. Teams like the Drunken Depths, Full Sail Flings, and the Rolling Gravestones quickly established themselves as forces to be reckoned with, while newcomers such as the Children of the Khorne and The Gojira Junglers brought fresh tactics and flair to the pitch.

The season was punctuated by wild twists – Orcs inexplicably returning to life as incompetent zombies, gnome teams vanishing without a trace, and a lowly Marauder Lineman named Bert becoming the most decorated player in the league. These stories became instant classics, fuelling debates and laughter across the league.

Over the course of the season we saw 48 league games played, not to mention an additional 90 friendlies for teams looking to practice and earn some more bribe money!

We had 545 casualties,  76 red cards and 356 touchdowns in total – entertaining crowds no end.

Season 1 Champions!

Crossfire Cup

The Crossfire Cup and ultimate glory went to the unstoppable Dark Elfs of the Positively Heinous Doctors team coached by Simo.

Starting strongly and not letting up they went 5/1/0 in the regular season before edging out the Dwarves of the Drunken Depth in the final of the playoffs. Simo has since kicked off his tabletop tournament career with an impressive 2nd place at the Jingle Bell Bowl so he’ll be one to keep an eye on in future seasons for sure!

Silver Cauldron

Our Silver Cauldron winners for season 1 of the Crossfire Blood Bowl league were the hulking Black Orcs of Da Black Eye Boyz.

Sporting one of the best defenses in the league, Chris only conceded 3 touchdowns while finishing with a record of 3/3/0 in the regular season.

A bye in the semifinal allowed the team to take victory in a hard fought final against Ali’s Norse Blood Sweat and Beers team.

Bronze Throne

Starting slow like a lumbering mummy, the undead of Drop Dead FC really grew into their stride over the season, finishing 2/2/2 in a strong playpool that included the eventual Crossfire Cup winner. Conail coached his team to victory over the Orc team No Parole, Just Punches with an impressive 3 – 1 win in the final. A game that was closer than the scoreline might suggest!

Spoons of Wood

Last but certainly not least, the Nuln Crusaders of Sam McCann limped to a final record of 0/1/5 over the regular season.

Witnesses confirm Sam’s dice were so bad he must have done something particularly offensive to Nuffle to deserve his prolonged wrath this season. Unfortunately the Blitzburgh Bashers were posted missing for the final, resulting in Sam’s Imperial Nobility capturing the coveted Spoons of Wood without a ball being kicked! It’s almost guaranteed Sam will be back with better dice next season.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate the conclusion of our first season, I’d like to extend a massive thanks to every coach who contributed to the start of an amazing Blood Bowl scene at the club. The league’s success is a testament to the passion and creativity of its members. With new rivalries forged and legends born, anticipation is already building for the next season – promising even more excitement, innovation, and unforgettable moments.

Participants of season 1 should keep an eye out for a very short survey coming your way, and we are hoping to start season 2 with the new 2025 ruleset around the end of January.

Congratulations to all, and may Nuffle’s favour always balance out his wrath!
