Crusade Month 2

Certus Crusade: Month 1 Recap

Wow, what a blistering start to our first month of the campaign! We thought our last campaign was popular, but the Certus Crusade has truly surpassed all expectations. With 42 players participating in a staggering 44 games in just the first month, it’s already reached a third of the total games played during the Balecaster Crusade!

We’re absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm and support. From all of us behind the scenes, a massive thank you to everyone who’s taken part so far! We hope you’re enjoying it as much as we are, here’s a selection of pics from some of the games.

Here’s the current control levels at the end of week 4.

Certus Crusade Control Week 4

The Key is Hidden

Battles rage across the Certus system. Strange alliances form, driven by the need to survive and gather power. The generals feel the draw of power from Certus Minor. There is power there, almost within their grasp. Whole battalions are performing feints and manoeuvres to hide their real purpose. To venture into the Mausoleum in search of more artifacts and find the power that will allow them to sweep their enemies aside and take their rightful place as ruler of this system, nay, this quadrant!

But there is uncertainty too in the generals minds. Some worry this power may draw them closer to Chaos, that it is the trick of some indifferent intelligence, others that it may sway their judgement or cloud their senses. The path to victory is far from certain at this juncture and many roads lead to desolation and despair.

The Imperial Legions are called forth – they have determined their greatest threat lies in the Chaos Incursion and their leaders have demanded faith from their brethren. Faith that will quell the unclean, faith that will purge the heretic and the mutant, faith that will drive back the filth from this system. The forces of the Emperor will be trying to retake Certus Secoundus from the Chaos horde – no matter the cost in steel and souls. For their part, the Chaos entities urge their forces onwards – this planet but a stepping stone to their larger aims. One more piece in the eternal game against the Imperial light.

The space marine legions, battered by indecision, have found their initial territory gains crumbling as they struggle to hold so many fronts at once. Their leaders make new plans to expand their beachheads and call on further forces to expand their territory so they can utilise the systems defensive capabilities more effectively. But their numbers are limited. Even with reinforcements they will need to dig in for the long haul.

The New Dawn alliance has held firm. The Orks delight in the glory of combat whilst the Drukhari fill their cells with prisoners for their games. Their leaders bid them take more. More blood to be spilt, more lives to be taken and enslaved, more planets to fall under their thrall – more, more, MORE!!!

With but one lone Farseer courting the Tau leadership their goals remain shrouded in mystery. They cannot discern what will come of their actions, who the overall winner will be. There is fear in their meetings when they discuss what could have caused this amalgam of forces to arrive just at this juncture in time – what has driven such an event? The Tau command listen to their council, their fear is that this fight spreads to their own systems, to their own populations. Best to hold it here and be done, let Imperial lives pay the price of this war’s folly – this system may end up a barrier between their own people and what else might come.

And the thing that they fear is coming. The undying horror of the hive fleet. More and more bio ships land on Tertious. More and more creatures are birthed from the consumption of the planet. And their spores have spread in system. They have footholds on other worlds, their never ending hunger seeks to sweep away all else. The fleet has been called here by something – perhaps there is time to redirect them? Use whatever power has drawn them here against themselves or else spread it to some other corner of the galaxy. Perhaps.

Changes for Month 2

We have some slight changes for month two, which will apply to all missions from now on:

Land Battle Updates

Increased Points Cap

This month, we’re scaling up the intensity of our land battles. The base points for each battle have been raised to 1,150, giving players more flexibility to field additional units and strategies. Keep in mind that depending on your Tier, you may be eligible for even more points, allowing you to tailor your forces for an even greater impact on the battlefield. Make sure to check your tier-specific bonuses!

Our First 2v2 Scenario

For the first time in this campaign, we’re introducing a 2v2 scenario, Strike Down the Foe! To ensure that everyone gets a chance to take part in 2v2 games, players may play this battle more than once.

First Team vs Team Event

We’re also introducing our first Team vs Team battle this month! The Blue Team will face off against The Green Team in the specially designed Blood Offering Crusade Mission. Each victory will be recorded, and at the end of the month, the team with the most wins will be awarded additional territory. This means that every game matters as the battle for dominance escalates across the entire campaign!

Increase in Games People can Play

To keep the momentum going, players can now participate in up to three Crusade missions this month. However, one of these three must be the Boarding Actions mission.

Boarding Actions Updates

We have a few changes to balance some of the Boarding Actions Rules a little better:

  • Insane Bravery will work the same as the main 40K rules – you need to do it BEFORE you roll the battleshock test.
  • The “Lord of Deceit” ability, whether from a character model or from the planetary buff will have a range of 6″ in Boarding Actions and require line of sight to increase the CP cost.

New Boarding Actions Mission

This month we have the new Boarding Actions mission: A Guide in the Darkness, where the defender is trying to stop the attacker from stealing valuable map intel. A shout out to Neil for pulling this scenario together!

New Missions

Some of the new missions for Month 2 are linked above but you can also find a full list of them on our Certus Campaign Scenarios page.
