From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Community!
Two years ago, the initial six members of our committee came together with a simple goal: to create the kind of gaming club we had always wanted. As far as we were concerned, if we got 10 people a night, that would be a huge success!
Fast forward to today, and Crossfire Gaming Club has grown beyond anything we could have imagined, with over 55 people regularly attending on a Thursday night and a second gaming night on Mondays due to the overwhelming demand.

Building Something Special
From day one, we wanted Crossfire to be more than just a place to roll dice. We set out to create a super friendly, supportive, and welcoming community, a club where newcomers would always be greeted with a friendly face and never left to feel out of place. We also made it clear that we wouldn’t tolerate “that guy”, the sort of player who makes gaming less fun for everyone else. Instead, we focused on fostering a positive, inclusive environment where hobbyists of all experience levels could enjoy their games and build friendships.
We also knew that atmosphere matters. Too many clubs rely heavily on unpainted, soulless MDF terrain, but we wanted something better, we wanted battlefields to feel thematic and fun. As it enhances the story, narrative and enjoyment, why would you want to put the miniatures that you’ve spent hours painting on the table to fight over MDF squares? We’ve invested heavily in high-quality, thematic terrain, ensuring that every battlefield is immersive and exciting. Combine that with top-tier gaming mats, fun and engaging events, and a fantastic social scene, and you get one of the best tabletop gaming experiences around!

Milestones and Achievements
Over the past two years, Crossfire Gaming Club has achieved some incredible milestones, including:
- Growing from a small gathering to a thriving club – Expanding from 10 people on a Thursday night to consistently hosting 50+ players, with a second night added to meet the demand.
- Winning Two Rounds of National Lottery Funding – Securing financial support that has helped us improve the club’s facilities, expand our terrain collection, and run bigger and better events.
- Featuring in Two Sky News Articles – Showcasing the impact of tabletop gaming on social connections and mental well-being.
- Attending Major Conventions – We made our first convention appearance at Carronade in Falkirk, where we won the Best Participation Game trophy. We also attended Claymore in Edinburgh and were invited to the World Sci-Fi Convention, a huge honour for our club.

Unforgettable Events and Campaigns
Crossfire has become home to some of the most exciting wargaming experiences around, with a packed calendar of events, such as:
- Narrative Warhammer 40K Crusades – Our first campaign had over 30 players, and the second campaign, which just wrapped up boasted 44 participants, with epic stories unfolding across months of battles.
- Necromunda Campaigns – Our first campaign saw 22 players fighting for dominance in the underhive, with a brand-new campaign about to begin.
- 40K Colosseum Event – A one-day, small scale tournament with 32 players, bringing fast-paced, gladiatorial-style Warhammer 40K games to life.
- Age of Sigmar Escalation League – A structured campaign for players to grow their armies over time.
- Mordheim Returns! – Our first-ever Mordheim campaign is launching this week, bringing this beloved skirmish game back to the table.
- Board Games and RPGs – Alongside wargaming, our members have enjoyed fantastic board game nights and RPG campaigns.
- Social Nights – Crossfire isn’t just about gaming, we’ve organised movie trips, pub outings, and even axe-throwing nights to build friendships beyond the tabletop and will be doing more in the future!
- Inter-Club Events – We’ve taken part in friendly (and competitive!) games with Dumbarton Wargaming Club and West Coast Wargaming, strengthening connections across Scotland’s gaming scene.

Investing in the Future
To make Crossfire the best club it can be, we’ve made major investments in terrain, tables, gaming mats, and starter sets for different game systems, ensuring that anyone can turn up and play, even if they’re completely new to the hobby. Although make sure you give us a shout first, we can get very busy!
We now run 24 gaming tables per night and maintain a dedicated hobby space for members to build and paint miniatures, ensuring that Crossfire is more than just a gaming club, it’s a creative hub for the hobby.

The Heart of Crossfire: Community and Friendship
At its core, Crossfire Gaming Club has always been about bringing people together. Whether you’re an experienced general or someone picking up dice for the first time, you’ll find a supportive and welcoming environment where friendships are built through shared passion.
As we celebrate our second anniversary, we want to thank every single member who has been part of this journey. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or have just joined, Crossfire Gaming Club wouldn’t be what it is without you.
Here’s to many more years of incredible games, unforgettable events, and lasting friendships!
Happy 2nd Birthday, Crossfire Gaming Club! 🎉
