Beginner-Friendly Warhammer Underworlds Tournament

On the evening of November 28th (Thursday from 6-10pm at the usual place), we’re excited to host a small Warhammer Underworlds Beginner Tournament, featuring the brand-new edition, Embergard. This is the perfect opportunity for both newcomers and seasoned players to dive into this fast-paced skirmish game in a fun and relaxed environment.

As someone who’s played the early seasons of the first edition a lot, it’s a great game system that’s heaps of fun with some fantastic models and different ways to play. It really scratches that competitive itch and encourages you to find some good synergies between warbands, cards and ways to play, is also a lot of fun! Games can be played relatively quickly once you get the hang of the rules.

One thing the game did suffer from was rules bloat, as they ran out of special rule levers for new warbands and kept having to come up with extra rules to make new warbands feel unique. However, the new edition has helped with that, bringing everything back to being in the one well written rule book. A minor gripe is not all older 50+ warbands have their own bespoke rules but that might still come and they can still be played.

We’d love to make Warhammer Underworlds more of a regular thing on club nights and with larger events, this is the perfect opportunity to get in early with the new edition and if there is enough interest you know we’ll support it!

Event Details

The club will provide four copies of Embergard, ensuring that everyone has a chance to join the action. Of course, attendees are welcome to bring their own warbands and boards as well. The event is designed to be laid-back, with a focus on learning the game mechanics, improving strategies, and having fun.

The ‘tournament’ will follow a simple structure: winners will play winners, allowing players to test their skills against opponents of similar experience levels as the night progresses. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to brush up on the rules for the new edition, this event is a great way to get involved.
