As you all know we were fortunate enough to be awarded some lottery funding which is going to go a huge way towards allowing our club to hopefully meet its full potential. The committee members are busy behind the scenes working to ensure your gaming experience is the best it possibly can be.
The club is losing our main hall for the summer holidays because it is only operated in term time by the council. We have arranged alternative accommodation at Greenfaulds Community Centre over the summer (see all the dates below). Whilst it is not quite the same size as our current location we are doing our best to make sure you do not lose out on your gaming experiences!
We also have some new developments that we would like to share with you all.
Club Owned Warhammer 40k Starter Set
Firstly, the club has bought a copy of the Warhammer 40k Leviathan box on preorder. We will aim to get this painted up so we can use it for intro games for new players. The rule book and all the other material from the box will be available at the club once we get our hands on it!
Supporting New Game Systems
Secondly, we are trying to expand our games that we offer on the premises. To that end we have purchased the core sets for both Marvel Crisis Protocol and Star Wars: Shatterpoint. We aim to get these painted up and available for everyone to play at the club so you can try out both games.
Expanding our Range of Board Games
Thirdly we want to encourage our board game scene by increasing the choice of games available. Rather than the committee picking what we do and do not stock. We are going to gather suggestions and put the different options up for a vote online. We’ll then buy a copy of the most requested games to be added to the club’s offering. We hope to do this fairly regularly to encourage more players to come down and try out the board games. It also gives players the opportunity to play games without the need to buy a copy for themselves.
Some of the Best Terrain Around!
Fourthly, we have some of the best looking terrain around and we want to keep everything fresh. We’re currently working on some new tables of terrain which we hope to be able to show off shortly. We also have some new gaming mats on order which will be added to our collection.
More Narrative Scenarios
Fifthly, with the success of the Eternity Wall we are working on the next club scenario that will allow a bespoke battle that should provide a very memorable experience. More details to follow…
An Upcoming Warhammer 40k Campaign!
Sixthly, our committee are working on building up a new Warhammer 40k narrative campaign, based on the new crusade rules from 10th edition. We will look to start shortly after moving back to Cumbernauld Village after summer. We plan to build out the narrative over the next few weeks and take names of those interested.
Painting & Hobby Supplies at the Club!
Seventhly, the committee has recently put in an order for lots of hobby supplies that are going to live at the club. This includes a wide range of paints, paint brushes, water pots, mixing palettes and painting handles. We are also currently looking into getting some lights.
All of these will help enhance our Painting & Hobby area and will be completely free for people to use on club nights. Hopefully just in time for 10th Edition!
Continuing to Improve the Club
Lastly we do have more in the plans including a potential Necromunda campaign in due course. We’ve been working on the website to provide more details on the games that we cover. It’s our goal to continue to provide a good, safe space for everyone to come and enjoy their hobby. At the end of the day, we want to make Crossfire the best club it can possibly be!
As always, if you need any help, have any great ideas or just want to know more, please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of the committee.
Timeline for the Summer
Here’s a handy timeline to help keep track of where we will be and what’s going on at the club.
